Our team works closely with clients, consultants, engineers, and internal project teams to turn strong design ideas into beautiful, buildable residential projects.</p><p>We are looking for someone who brings creativity, accuracy, technical confidence, and strong communication to the design process. This role is ideal for a residential design professional who understands both the creative and practical sides of custom home design.</p><h3><br></h3><h3>Position Overview</h3><p>The Architectural Project Designer &amp; Coordinator plays a key role in turning client visions into beautiful, buildable realities. This role spans concept design, technical documentation, Revit modeling, permitting coordination, and internal project support.</p><p>The right candidate is confident, precise, solutions-oriented, and able to balance design sensibility with technical accuracy. This person should understand residential architecture, California building codes, documentation standards, and the importance of clear client communication.</p><h3><br></h3><h3><strong><u>Responsibilities</u></strong></h3><p><strong>Architectural Design Process</strong></p><ul><li>Participate in pre-design meetings and help translate client vision into actionable design concepts</li><li>Develop early-phase conceptual models in Revit, prioritizing both form and function</li><li>Support all phases of design development</li><li>Help ensure design work aligns with project goals, timelines, documentation standards, and client expectations</li><li>Bring creative thinking and practical construction awareness to residential design challenges</li></ul><p><strong>Technical Documentation and Submittals</strong></p><ul><li>Produce accurate construction documents, including architectural drawings, Title 24 documentation, and engineering coordination items</li><li>Handle city submittals in person and online</li><li>Ensure submittals meet jurisdictional requirements</li><li>Coordinate plan check responses, revisions, and updates with consultants and engineers</li><li>Maintain technical accuracy throughout the documentation and permitting process</li></ul><p><strong>Client Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Communicate clearly, confidently, and respectfully with clients throughout the design process</li><li>Represent the Well Done standard of professionalism in deliverables, meetings, and written communication</li><li>Help clients understand design progress, next steps, and documentation needs</li><li>Support a high-quality client experience from concept through permitting coordination</li></ul><p><strong>Design Coordination and Internal Support</strong></p><ul><li>Collaborate with the internal team to track action items and maintain project momentum</li><li>Support alignment with internal standards, SOPs, and design workflows</li><li>Contribute to process improvements that help the design team work more efficiently</li><li>Occasionally support internal or client-facing design presentations</li><li>Coordinate with project, design, engineering, and permitting stakeholders as needed</li></ul><h3><br></h3><h3><strong><u>Qualifications</u></strong></h3><ul><li>5 or more years of experience in residential architecture, engineering, or design-build environments</li><li>Advanced proficiency in Revit, including modeling, documentation, and coordination workflows</li><li>Strong knowledge of California building codes, permitting, and residential submittal processes</li><li>Ability to balance design creativity with technical execution</li><li>Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy</li><li>Clear communication skills for client, consultant, and internal team coordination</li><li>Ability to manage multiple project priorities in an in-office, team-based environment</li></ul><h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field</li><li>Experience working on high-end custom residential projects</li><li>Experience with Coastal or Southern California residential design</li><li>Familiarity with residential permit processes and city coordination</li><li>Working knowledge of BuilderTrend, Bluebeam, or similar design and project management platforms</li><li>Strong graphic presentation skills, including renderings, diagrams, or client-facing visuals</li><li>Passion for residential architecture, creative design, and delivering a best-in-class client experience</li></ul><h3><br></h3><h3>Compensation and Benefits<br></h3><ul><li>Full-time, in-office position</li><li>Opportunity to work on high-end custom residential projects in Coastal Orange County</li><li>Collaborative design and project environment</li><li>Opportunity to contribute to process improvements and design standards</li></ul><h3>Schedule</h3><ul><li>Full-time</li><li>In-office role based in Costa Mesa, CA</li><li>Standard business hours, with occasional flexibility based on project needs</li></ul><p><em>Well Done is an equal opportunity employer.
